She is my friend. I have loved her since I looked up what the “periwinkle” crayon color was really about, and first learned her floral connection.
She is a shrub vine, a flowering evergreen groundcover. She contains many alkaloids, some of which can be extracted to help aid with many ailments, including lymphomas. She can also lower bloodpressure, in certain environments. She can also help reduce swelling (inflammation) and have a drying (astringent) effect on body tissues. However, she is also known to have gnarly side effects, so don’t just read a blog post about her- do not use internally without caution and expert medical advice.
Her benefactor is Venus, her element is water. Magically, Periwinkle is associated with memory. It is said that gazing at her flowers and sleeping amongst her vines will help recover lost memories. She can also protect from baneful energies, and promote prosperity.
She has held me through cycles of creation since I was small. She has lent her stubbornness, steadfastness, luminosity and kindness to many art & writing projects over the years.
What does she mean to you? What whispered legends have passed between you?
